Cashood

About Cashood

A cashmere factory in Kathmandu, run the way we would want to buy from one.

Cashood began with a question our founder kept asking after returning from Australia: why do buyers love Nepali cashmere but so rarely know who made it?

Nepal has worked fine goat fibre for generations. The skill never left. What was missing was a maker that could meet an international brand’s standards on paper as well as by hand: clear specs, honest lead times, consistent quality from the first piece to the five-hundredth.

So we built our own floor in Kapan, on the northern edge of the Kathmandu valley. It houses knitting, weaving, linking, washing, finishing, quality control and packing. We train our own people, most of them women, and keep them. We treat our water before it leaves. We keep offcuts out of landfill. And we open the doors to any buyer who wants to see it.

From yarn to your label.

Bring a tech pack, a reference garment or a rough sketch. We will develop it, sample it, make it and pack it, and tell you plainly what it costs at each step.

Private Label

Your design, made by us, carrying only your brand. We work from your tech pack or help you write one, then sample, grade and produce. Your designs stay yours and are never offered to anyone else.

Ready-to-Label

Our proven styles, your label. Choose from a core range of sweaters, scarves and throws we already make well, pick colours from our card, and we sew in your labels and tags. The fastest way to launch a cashmere line.

Knitwear Development

Fine to chunky gauges, rib and cable, fully-fashioned shaping, hand-linked seams. Our technicians turn a flat sketch into a garment that fits and holds its shape after washing.

Woven & Felted Pieces

Shawls, scarves and blankets woven on handlooms, then washed and brushed by hand. Tartans, checks, twills, loose weaves, ombré shading and knit-felted textures.

Colour & Finishing

Lab dips matched to your Pantone or swatch, low-impact dyes, hand-finishing, woven labels, care labels, hangtags, and packaging made to your spec.

What we hold ourselves to

Fibre we can prove

Pure cashmere at 19 microns or finer. Yarn origin and test reports shared with every order.

Fair, steady work

Wages at or above Nepal’s legal minimum, paid monthly, with paid training for new starters.

Women in skilled roles

Most of our artisans are women. We train from zero and promote from the floor to supervisor.

Water treated on site

Dye and wash water passes through our own treatment before release.

Less waste, less plastic

Yarn ends and offcuts become felted pieces or go back for recycling. Paper and recycled packaging on request.

Doors open

Buyers, auditors and journalists are welcome on the floor. We would rather show than claim.

How an order runs.

01.

Brief & costing

You send a tech pack, sketch or reference piece. We reply with questions, a quote and a realistic timeline.

02.

Yarn & colour

We agree the yarn count, gauge and weight, then dye lab dips for your approval.

03.

Sampling & fit

We knit or weave samples, you check fit and hand, and we adjust until you sign off.

04.

Production & shipping

Bulk runs on our floor with inline and final checks, then we label, pack and ship to your door.

Have a tech pack, or only a sketch?

Send it over. We will tell you what it will cost, how long it will take, and whether we are the right maker for it. If we are not, we will say so.
